The Brief
For this assignment, I was tasked with choosing a company that I was associated with or wanted to be associated with and identifying a mock media opportunity. Purely focused on media relations, I was tasked with creating a doable media pitch plan and presenting it to my classmates and professor. The pitch was made to walk the audience through:
- The organization
- The media opportunity... i.e., the story to be told
- How to tell that story - angle, spokesperson(s), tone, content
- Targeted media outlets and rationale (one or two)
- Targeted journalists at those outlets and rationale (one or two)
- What I want to accomplish
I built a one-page brief summarizing the pitch, along with two media-relations-focused supporting documents. I elected to create a media advisory and a fact sheet. It was designed to fit within the company's budget and emulate past events.
